Web Design

Here you will find some web designs I've worked on through the years in somewhat of a chronological order. I've tried to capture the gamete of designs and technologies I've utilized throughout my career. Some of the web sites below require ShockWave or Flash players to be installed in order to function.

Web Design: 1-4 | 5-8 | 9-12 | 13-16 | 17-20 | 21-24 | 25-28 | 29-29

USGS Home Page 2005

Developed By: USGS Enterprise Web Team and the USGS Office of Communications.
Technology Used:
DHTML, HTML, CSS, J Script, ASP, VB Script, SQL.
Architected:
Architecture type - "Portal Model". Moderate adherence to architecture and interface models developed.
Project Focus:
Implementation of a User Centric Design Process.
Role:
Phase 1 - Design new enterprise wide Visual identity Standards for web pages to make all new web projects compliant with Department of Interior and OMB "Best Practices". Develop and design new homepage in prototype following new specifications. Coordinate development activities. Phase 2 - Relinquish ownership of the project to the newly implemented support group.
Notes:
After the prototype of the new homepage suite and after the rework of the new enterprise wide specification the bureau developed a management team to support all web activities at the Homepage level within the web architecture, enable this design to have a greater chance of success.

USGS Home Page 2004

Developed By: USGS Enterprise Web Team and USGS Home Page Committee.
Technology Used:
DHTML, HTML, CSS, J Script.
Architected:
Architecture type - "Process Model". Loose adherence to architecture and interface models developed by my team.
Project Focus:
Template Management Feasibility.
Role:
Phase 1 - Act as committee member to inform other members of importance in following the architecture design model. Phase 2 - Take ownership of project, fix non-compliance issues, incorporate back end technologies to automate content population and develop draft bureau web policy.
Notes:
This is an on-going project with many individuals having stake in the outcomes of the re-engineering efforts. Therefore the information architecture and interface design are always under attack by program and project managers. The governance of this site has taken different forms throughout its life and life cycle management is still in the works. While at the highest level within the architectural framework it is the hardest to have compliant.
